Have a Pillow?

In this episode of Seeking with Shari, “Have a Pillow?,” Shari explores the beautiful and challenging call to biblical hospitality. She reminds us that Jesus and His disciples did not have permanent homes, instead relying completely on the generosity and open doors of others. While modern society often tends to avoid or overlook those experiencing homelessness, Shari urges us to lean into compassion. By using good judgment and relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can safely and lovingly extend a helping hand to those in genuine need.

Through her message and these powerful scriptures, she highlights God’s heart for the stranger and the weary traveler:

  • Matthew 8:20 – “Jesus replied, ‘Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.’” This verse reminds us that our Savior intimately understands the vulnerability of having no permanent earthly home.
  • Mark 6:7-13 – When Jesus sent out the twelve disciples, He instructed them to take nothing for the journey and to rely entirely on the hospitality of the towns they entered, showing how deeply early ministry depended on open doors.
  • Hebrews 13:2 – “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” This beautiful promise challenges us to see every stranger as a potential divine encounter.
  • 1 John 3:17 – “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?” This scripture challenges us to put our faith into tangible, practical action when we encounter someone lacking basic necessities.
